Circuit information

The A-sytle TT Assen MotoGP Grand Prix is held in Assen, approximately 100km north-east of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The original Assen road track was first used in 1925. The layout of the track remained almost unchanged until 1955 when a completely new track was built. The 4.6 km long circuit is considered as the Cathedral of motorcycling by the fans, especially that the TT circuit is the only circuit on the world championship calendar that was already on the calendar when the series started in 1949.

The current track has a length of 4,555 meters including 11 right and 6 left turns. The longest straight is 560 meters. The curves in Assen were traditionally banked and the surface is extremely grippy, so the riders were able to drive much faster on the course than other circuits. Today these sloped or curved bends have been modified due to safety issues. The Dutch TT is traditionally held on last Saturday of June.
