Circuit information

The MotoGP A-Style Grand Prix of Japan is held near Motegi, approximately 20 kilometers from the city of Valencia. The Twin Ring Motegi circuit was opened in 1997 and its name comes from the fact that there are two race tracks at the facility: a 2.5 kilometer American style oval and a 4.8 kilometer European style road course. The track was built by Honda as part of its efforts to bring the American Indycar series to Japan. The oval course, also known as the Super Speedway, is used only once a year, while the road course hosts many races, including the MotoGP series since 2004.

The 4.2 kilometer long circuit has 11 turns of which 7 are right hand corners and 4 left-handers.
