Circuit information

The San Marino Grand Prix is held in Misano Adriatico, a beautiful holiday resort approximately 10 kilometers from the mini-state of San Marino and Rimini, Italy and approximately 170 km from Florence. The Misano Circuit was built from 1970 to 1972, when the first race was also held. The original track layout was modified several times and its original length of 3.5 km was enlarged. During the period of 1996 to 2001 all facilities were improved further, adding more pits and grandstands. In order to host the MotoGP race again there has been several upgrades made to the circuit and its facilities in 2006: the circuit direction was changed to clockwise direction, the track length was further increased to 4.2 km, the track width was incremented to 14 meters, facilities were improved, and all security measures were applied.

The current 4.2 kilometer long circuit has 16 turns of which 10 are right hand corners and 6 left-handers which provide several overtaking opportunities. The race weekend is a favorite for both the riders and fans due to the pleasant climate and the neighboring beaches.
